A NICER view of PSR J0030+0451: Implications for the dense matter equation of state
|Date||6 February 2020|
|Time||12:00 - 13:00|
Recently the X-ray telescope NICER has for the first time jointly measured the mass and radius of a neutron star. I'll talk about the techniques that were used in this analysis, what the caveats are and how such a measurement can be used to constrain the equation of state of neutron stars complementary to mass measurements of radio pulsars and binary neutron star mergers.
