Portrait of Anna Watts
Anna Watts

Prof. Watts' research aims to understand the physics behind violent dynamic events on neutron stars, and the nature of ultradense nuclear matter. She is involved in the development of future high-energy space telescopes and is also the Director of the Bachelor degree programme in Physics and Astronomy. She will receive 1500 dollars and the invitation to give a special lecture during the next congress of the American Astronomical Association. About winning the prize, she says: 'I'm incredibly honoured! But by mid-career it's not just down to you but your team as well, and I've been beyond lucky with the junior researchers in my group - so this is for them too, they're all awesome!'
