Event details of Peering deep into the lair of the repeating Fast Radio Burst
Date 18 January 2018
Time 12:00 -13:00
Organised by Daniele Michilli

Fast radio bursts are one of the most interesting astronomical sources found in the last years. They are the brightest, fastest, radio transients ever detected, but we still ignore the emission mechanism and, for most of them, even their location. Studying the only fast radio burst known to emit multiple bursts, we have been able to characterize the source environment, discovering extreme conditions around the source. These results will allow theoretical models of fast radio bursts to be tested and adapted. In this presentation, I will give a broad overview of fast radio bursts and discuss these new and exciting findings.
