The University of Amsterdam and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam joined forces in a 2-year English Masters in Physics & Astronomy. Students benefit from the expertise of both universities that are internationally renown and have excellent research groups.

The first year of the A&A MSc program is dedicated to course work, and the second year to the MSc research project. The following A&A MSc courses are run by API staff:

Practical (elective) courses focussed on observation skills

  • Astronomical Observations from Design to Proposal
  • Observation Project La Palma

Researchers and research students on the Roque de los Muchachos on La Palma

Practical (elective) courses focussed on computational skills

  • Computational Astrophysics
  • Programming for Astronomy & Astrophysics
  • Statistical Methods

Other core and elective courses

  • Atmospheres and Radiative Transfer
  • Astrochemistry to Planetary Habitability
